Sometimes we find solace in the strangest of places, sometimes what you expected turns out to be completely different. After a while you realize just how important it is to keep and open mind, just how much easier it is to look at the glass half full.
A lot of things happen in our lives and at the particular moment you have no idea why they are happening. We hurt, we cry... we lose ourselves in the wrong kind of people or get involved in wrong kind of thing. We fall in love and we give everything to someone and hope with every fibre in your being that this person will not break your heart. But more often than not they do, sometimes the don't mean to do it, but it happens anyway. And we do the only humane thing, we shut out the rest of humanity lock ourselves up in some dark closet and hurt. We cry, we get drunk and go completely off the rails. We hate, find solace in the arms of strangers and we hope that our hearts can be curved out of chests and put away in a box. We become strangers with the person in the mirror and avoid any real emotion. We find a way to deal with pain. But what is life without pain? Pain gives life meaning, pain means that you are still alive and that you have a chance to better your life, pain means you are capable of the most divine of feelings. Pain means you love.
We all fall in love, and fortunately or unfortunately, no one knows if the person you are in love with will be the person that you spend the rest of your life with. Some part of me wishes that it was that simple. Actually a huge part of me. Because then we wouldn't have to go through the pain of lose, we don't have to go through the disappointments. Because then you can plan and invest in this person without the fear that they will leave.
Sometimes we find solace in the strangest of places, we find solace in the strangest of people. I met this guy once and I had already told myself that I wouldn't get along with him even before we had said hallo. I thought he had an attitude and I was ready to pick a fight with him even before the first ten minutes of our conversation. Today.....let's just say am happy I kept an open mind. But even in this solace, the fear of the unknown causes us to look at the glass half empty. Sometimes we hold ourselves back We give tiny bits of ourselves to the person we claim to love and sit at a distant and psychoanalyze this persons past, present and try and decode their future. And all this does is create room for mistrust...all this does really is make you lose yourself. You lose the person you used to be in the fear of sharing that person with someone else. You lose your essence because you attract doubt, you expect the worst from this person and therefore no matter what they do its never enough for you. You lose love because in the attempt to not get hurt, you never loved. I say, whether or not you are able to see the future, fall in love....freely and truly. Let yourself go, lose yourself immensely in love and do not be afraid of getting hurt. In the end, even if you get hurt, you will have lived, you will have loved and you will have been loved back.
